9. 1945 – The Foundation of the Welfare State

The Welfare State was founded at the end of the Second World War to ensure that the public had a basic “safety net” to protect them in peace time. It played an key role in reducing “socio-economic inequalities”. Without it, the economic prosperity of our country would have declined even more after the end of the war.
