8. 1914 – 1918 – The First World War

World War One revolutionised Britain in many ways, including giving women important jobs that before would never have been considered, leading to women eventually getting the vote. WW1 also changed the way many people thought about war, and led to many new technologies being invented, like the first fighter jet.
